Focus on holding space and presence... not outcomes

As healthcare professionals, how often do we find ourselves feeling discouraged when our desired outcomes aren't met in the healing relationship? This is a powerful, yet subtle, shift in focus that can be a true grounding stone in our approach to patient care. Placing the emphasis solely on "our desired outcomes," especially when these don't depend entirely on us but also on the patient, can quickly lead to frustration, disappointment, and ultimately, burnout . It's a common trap many of us fall into. What if we redirected our focus to what truly is within our sphere of responsibility as healers? Presence and holding space for patients to reveal themselves and their struggles seems a far more logical and sustainable option than fixating on outcomes linked to patient responsibility.
